Valentines Day 2014

Nothing says ‘Love’ (or lust) more than cake and chocolate. Love is in the air this week with Valentines Day just a few days away. Don’t panic if you haven’t bought your valentine a special gift or soppy card – this year, say it with cake! We’re absolutely certain your valentine will thank you for it. If you’re wracking your brains trying to figure what to make then read on for some inspiration.........
Whether you’re a hopeless romantic, anti-valentines or baking a scrummy dessert for your love, we’re certain we’ve got all bases covered.
It’s an age long tradition to give roses for valentines. Mix it up a little and give your valentine a cupcake bouquet of Red Buttercream Roses – pretty to look at and delicious to eat, it’s a win-win situation! For your base, it has to be Red or Black cupcakes cases from Culpitt. Or if you want something a little more valentines-ey go for PME’s Petite Heart Cases. Use a Jem 2D nozzle to pipe irresistible buttercream roses tinted with none other than Rainbow Dust’s Red Progel. For a softer approach, use Sugarflairs New Pastel Rose Paste. If piping isn’t your thing, create beautifully realistic roses with Karen Davies Large Rose Silicone Mould used with Renshaws Ruby Red Sugarpaste.
If you’re after a little naughty bite of temptation, make delicious Red and Black Candy Button coated cake pops (perfect for any valentine still sticking to their new years diet). Sprinkle with PME Edible Hearts and Lips and some Rainbow Dust Edible Glitter in Red and Black for a glistening finish.
If you’re feeling adventurous and want to decorate a large cake, it has to be heart shaped (see our Heart baking tins and boards) customised with Red and Black feathers. We love Patchwork cutters ‘Love’ letters in PME Midnight Black sugarpaste on a Renshaws Poppy Red sugarpaste cake. For a flirty Fifty Shades of Grey themed cake, use Rainbow Dust’s Grey ProGel to create masks and ties from FPC silicone moulds.
If you are looking for something a bit different (and amusing) why not “Bee Mine” with Bee sugar pipings. Or team Patchwork Cutters “Jigsaw” design with “Perfect fit” or “My Missing Piece” – simply write your slogan using our Edible food pens. Use some of our Cake Pop Sticks along with the phrase “let’s ‘stick’ together” – the list goes on but we don’t want to make you cringe too much! But this is what Valentines is all about – a bit of romance and a lot of fun.
Here at Wedding Acrylics HQ we’re raising money for British Heart Foundation’s Mend a Broken Heart campaign funding research into Heart Failure Prevention. We can’t wait to get elbow deep in edible glitter, sugarpaste roses and metallic red paint.
So now that we’ve inspired you (possibly to create none of the above), what are you waiting for?
