Square Silver Cake Cards

When it comes to picking a square cake card for your baking project, the choice can be a little bit overwhelming. There are many options available from thick to super thin and all have a place in the cake decorating world.

Sometimes the board should be thin and discreet so that it can be hidden whereas other times they must be thick and robust in order to support the weight of the cake and the icing.

The most importance difference to note when choosing a card card is the difference between "cut edge" and "turn edge". A cut edge card only has foil on the top side of the card and a raw edge where the shape has been cut from the larger board. These cards are also the thinnest types you can use and are only suitable for gateaux and light sponges, or between tiers on larger cakes. Turn egde cards instead have foil wrapped around the edges of the card and are made of thicker and stronger cards than cut edge types.
