Round Silver Cake Drums

Thick foil cake drums are the most popular type of cake board on the market. They are versatile and very strong which makes them perfect for single or multi tiered cakes. Cake drums are perfect for all types of cake and they are easy to cover using fondant icing and ribbon if desired. We sell our boards as single items or in packs of 5, which can you save money if you are a regular cake decorator.

Traditional cake drums come in sizes from 4 inches (102mm) up to 22 inches (559mm) they are all 0.5 inches (12mm) thick and are made from a solid heavyweight board and high quality foil. If you need something more lightweight or thinner then search through our cake cards.

Supply chain issues have dominated the UK's economy this year and our beloved cake drums have fallen victim to this larger problem! Supply of the traditional cake drum is still intermittent and while this has improved, it will continue to be disrupted for the near future. As such we've introduced a ranges of new lightweight and eco drums as a great alternative! We've also massively expanded our range of masonite cake boards, so if you're unable to find the size you need in the traditional drum check these out too!

The lightweight drums are as close to a traditional cake drum as you can get. These are finished in the traditional silver foil, however, with a traditional drum the board is wrapped with one piece of foil that is wrapped around the edges, so you see all the little folds, instead, the lightweight drums are wrapped around the edges and then the top is covered, so you get a nice smooth finish on the edge of the board. The depth of these drums is the same, approximately 12mm, which is perfect for adding ribbon around the edge. The difference is the inner board; this is made from cardboard, instead of fibreboard, which makes them almost half the weight of a traditional drum.

At 5mm thick the eco boards are closer to masonite boards, in both looks and sturdiness. Despite the thinner depth, just like the masonite boards, these Eco boards are strong, capable of supporting fruit cakes as well as tiered cakes. The difference here is that the inner board is made from 100% recycled fibres! Fantastic for the eco-conscious.
